Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Application-Based Driveshaft Design: Analyze customer-supplied application data to design engineered driveshaft solutions that meet performance, duty cycle, and dimensional requirements.
  • Technical Drawing Development: Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and customer-facing approval drawings using industry-standard design software and tolerancing.
  • Pricing Support: Develop accurate and comprehensive pricing worksheets based on design specifications, material requirements, and production costs to support the sales team in quoting efforts.
  • Production Oversight: Coordinate and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of custom components, aligning manufacturing timelines with customer deadlines and internal capacity planning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure design intent, production feasibility, and customer expectations are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in design workflow, documentation, and scheduling to increase efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of design changes, project milestones, and production progress to support traceability and project accountability.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field preferred; equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with current version of Autodesk Inventor Pro and AutoCAD Mechanical for 2D and 3D components and assembly design is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in cross-functional engineering teams and contribute effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Technical communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating components, and machining design principles and standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent design projects, priorities, and deadlines within a machine shop environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (formulas, data organization), Outlook (email/calendar), Word (technical documentation), and Teams (customer meetings).
