Head of Engineering (In-Person, Brooklyn, 5 days a week)

Base salary $200-$250K

1-1.5% Equity

A fast-growing fintech startup in Brooklyn is looking for a player-coach engineering leader to join their founding team. The company helps self-employed individuals build wealth through smarter tax strategies, starting with retirement products and expanding into an integrated platform spanning investing, education, tax optimization, and filing.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team (currently 6 engineers and growing)
• Stay hands-on in the codebase while setting technical direction and architecture
• Collaborate with founders and product leadership on roadmap and strategic decisions
• Instill strong engineering culture focused on ownership, velocity, and high quality
• Help shape hiring and onboarding as the team scales

• You’ve led engineering teams at high-growth startups and know how to scale
• You love balancing people leadership with technical execution
• You’re excited about the impact of fintech and building category-defining products
• You thrive in fast-moving, product-driven environments
• You’re based in NYC and comfortable working onsite 5 days/week in Williamsburg

Tech Stack

• Languages : TypeScript, Python
• Frontend : React, Next.js, Chakra UI
• Backend : NestJS, Django, PostgreSQL, Memcached
• Infra : AWS (EKS, SQS, SNS, Lambda)

Compensation : $200K–$250K base + equity
