The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep Node.js and TypeScript experience to help shape the core of our real-time, event-driven platform. You’ll work closely with product designers and frontend engineers to architect and scale backend services that power collaborative, data-intensive user experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Build Scalable Services: Design and implement backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript.

• Enable Real-Time Collaboration: Work with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, pub/sub) to power real-time sync, presence, and collaboration.

• Shape Our APIs: Develop robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs to serve complex client needs and enable seamless data exchange.

• Design Data Models: Own schema design and optimization in both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.

• Support DevOps & CI/CD: Contribute to infrastructure as code, automated testing, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Drive Observability: Implement monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing to ensure high performance and reliability.

• Lead & Mentor: Participate in design reviews, elevate code quality through thoughtful feedback, and help grow the engineering culture.

• Work Agile: Collaborate cross-functionally in an iterative, feedback-driven development process.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems
• 2+ years hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a professional environment
• Strong knowledge of event-driven patterns, including message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and event sourcing
• Experience with GraphQL and REST API design
• Familiarity with real-time frameworks like Yjs, ShareDB, or WebSocket solutions (e.g., Socket.IO)
• Deep understanding of data modeling and performance in relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Solid grasp of modern DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative, agile environment
