Job Description

HELT Design Architecture Interiors, a vision-oriented design-focused firm located in Belmont, NC, is seeking a seasoned Retail / Prototype Focused Project Architect to join our dynamic team. We offer a collaborative studio environment where strong project management, leadership skills, and direct client engagement are key to success. In this role, you'll manage key clients and their projects while working closely with Senior Management to develop long-term strategies for client and project growth. You'll help maintain a positive, team-oriented culture, uphold client deadlines and quality standards, and contribute to future client development. HELT Design is a mid-sized architecture, interior design, and planning firm with a fun, supportive, and community-driven culture. Our team operates from a renovated Mid-Century Modern office space featuring welcoming employee amenities. Our immediate need for this position is focused on National Retail and Related Prototype Projects. However, there is often an opportunity to participate in multi-faceted projects across a wide range of market sectors, including Mixed Use, Multi-Family, Hospitality, Workplace, Civic, and Special Community Focused Projects.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Clients and Firm Leadership to kick off projects and coordinate all phases of the design process
  • Prepare design solutions, including adaptations of prototypes to new sites that may have special design requirements and regulations
  • Perform research related to building code requirements
  • Select and specify materials and finishes
  • Develop Construction Documents
  • Perform construction phase tasks including site visits, RFI responses and submittal review
  • Assist with consultant, vendor and client relationships
  • Self-manage project assignments from start to finish with oversight
  • Keep supervisor informed of progress and need for assistance

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Progressive work history of 5-15 years of experience in a professional design practice, preferably with experience in semi-custom prototype design and rollout in retail, daycare, carwash and other related market sectors.
  • Technical production skills with the ability to effectively produce, coordinate & permit projects using AutoCAD. REVIT is a plus but not required.
  • When prudent, communicate and lead clients with professionalism through decisions affecting their projects
  • Understanding of relevant building codes, construction methods and relevant detailing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a cooperative approach
  • Project Management and Scheduling Skillsets – familiarity with project management software is strongly preferred
  • Intermediate experience with rendering software such as Sketchup and Lumion are a plus
  • Possess the organizational skills to prioritize individual and team tasks while handling multiple deadlines
  • Ability to effectively work independently or with a team
  • Professional license not required, pathway to licensure preferred
