Bowen, Miclette & Britt Insurance Agency, LLC (BMB) has an immediate opening for a qualified and experienced  Payroll & Benefits Accountant!

We are seeking a  Payroll & Benefits Accountant with experience in payroll processing and 401(k) census reporting to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Administer 401(k) contributions, reconciliations, and compliance reporting, including annual census reporting
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure proper tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure payroll expenses are accurately recorded
  • Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures, including wage and hour laws
  • Assist with audits and reporting related to payroll and benefits
  • Various other administrative responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with 401(k) administration and annual census reporting
  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paycom, Paycor, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) is a plus
