About Perosphere Technologies
Perosphere Technologies is changing the way decisions are made for patients at risk for bleeding. A private medical technologies company, Perosphere is focused on development and commercialization of the novel PoC (point-of-care) Coagulometer, which informs diagnosis, treatment, and prevention through precision data, made immediately accessible to all. It is the only point-of-care (POC) diagnostic tool that effectively and swiftly tests clotting times across drug classes, including Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs). The fast diagnosis and related appropriate treatment decisions the PoC Coagulometer enables will help establish a new standard of care in hospital emergency departments for patients at risk for bleeding and has the potential to improve efficiency, provide significant cost savings, and better patient outcomes.
Perosphere Technologies is funded by Advantage Capital Partners, Ambit Health Ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Ogden, and others, and has been awarded multiple federal grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Why Work at Perosphere Technologies?
About the Role - Process/Manufacturing Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Process/Manufacturing Engineer with deep expertise in silicon- and glass-based MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) microprocessing to join our Manufacturing Operations team. In this role, you will lead the design transfer, fabrication, and characterization of our proprietary glass-on-silicon microfluidic diagnostic system. Your contributions will directly impact the performance, scalability, and manufacturability of our diagnostic products.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design and development of our microfluidic device using silicon-on-glass microprocessing technologies for applications in diagnostics, biosensing, or fluid control.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, biomedical, and software engineers) to integrate microfluidic systems with electronics, sensors, and system-level platforms.
• Perform modeling, simulation, and validation of fluid dynamics in microchannels using tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics or ANSYS Fluent.
• Evaluate material compatibility, fluid handling, and performance metrics for microfluidic components and systems.
• Work with contract manufacturing partners, foundries to develop and scale microprocessing workflows.
• Document all processes, designs, and testing procedures to support IP generation, reproducibility, and regulatory filings.
• Support product development and process transfers from concept through prototyping to pilot and commercial production under cGMPs.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, materials, and fabrication techniques in MEMS and microfluidics.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 3–7+ years of hands-on experience in silicon microfabrication.
• Strong knowledge of cleanroom processes: photolithography, wet etch processes, physical vapor deposition, anodic bonding, and other relevant silicon microprocessing and metrology techniques.
• Experience with fluid dynamics modeling tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Familiarity with integration of microfluidics with sensors, actuators, and electronic components.
• Solid understanding of materials science related to microfluidics (e.g., silicon, glass, polymers).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially around documentation, technical reporting, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in diagnostics , lab-on-chip systems , or biomedical applications .
• Familiarity with wafer-level packaging, microassembly, and system integration.
• Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment.
• Publications or patents in relevant fields are a strong plus.
