Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Litigation Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in plaintiff personal injury and commercial litigation matters, as well as exceptional organizational and communication skills. This role is essential in supporting our attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, from case inception to resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Assist attorneys with case intake, evaluation, and strategy development.
Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are up to date and easily accessible.
Monitor case deadlines and manage the court calendar.
Prepare and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, pleadings, and subpoenas.
Client Communication:
Act as a liaison between clients and attorneys, providing regular updates on case progress.
Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Coordinate client meetings, depositions, and court appearances as necessary.
Discovery and Evidence Management:
Assist in the discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
Organize, review, and index documents for production and trial.
Manage and update document databases and electronic files.
Trial Preparation:
Collaborate with attorneys in preparing trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
Coordinate logistics for trials and court appearances, including scheduling and notifying relevant parties.
Provide administrative support during trial proceedings, such as document retrieval and exhibit handling.
Legal Research:
Conduct legal research as requested by attorneys to support case strategies.
Stay up to date with changes in laws and regulations relevant to personal injury and commercial litigation.
Billing and Administrative Tasks:
Assist with billing and timekeeping tasks, including the preparation of invoices and expense reports.
Perform general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and managing attorney calendars.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
Minimum of 1+ years of experience as a legal assistant, with a focus on plaintiff personal injury and commercial litigation.
Proficiency in legal research, document management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of local court rules and procedures is a plus.
Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
