Position Overview:

The General Superintendent will oversee field operations for a large-scale, heavy civil earth work project, ensuring that all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires hands-on leadership in the field, directing crews, managing subcontractors, coordinating with project managers, and driving schedules to meet critical milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day field operations for major civil earth work scopes including grading, excavation, site utilities, and roadwork
• Supervise and coordinate field crews, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure productivity and safety
• Enforce safety protocols and quality control measures across the jobsite
• Collaborate with project management on scheduling, logistics, and cost control
• Maintain accurate field documentation and daily reports
• Resolve field issues promptly and effectively to minimize delays
• Communicate regularly with stakeholders to align field activities with project goals
• Mentor and develop field staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on large-scale earth work
• Proven leadership in supervising complex field operations and large crews
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, and safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and schedules
• Proficiency in field management software and construction reporting tools
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety or superintendent training is a plus
