Job Summary

Responsible for routine repair and maintenance tasks, inclusive of HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.

Coordinates outside contractors or vendors for specialized services, housekeeping and grounds keeping.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise

Language Ability – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety roles, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak

effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,

percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in

written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in

standardized situations.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure/Certifications)

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interacts with employees and vendors in a positive manner consistent with the mission and values of

Bako Diagnostics.

  • Performs routine HVAC system preventive maintenance; determine HVAC system problems and make

recommendations for repair; review and evaluate the quality of HVAC contractor work.

  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g., wall switches

and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances,

cords) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.

  • Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g., preparing surfaces and applying paints,

stains, varnishes; hanging doors, fitting locks and handles).

  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains, faucets and toilets,

unclogging of drains and toilets).

  • Initiates planned maintenance programs for a variety of office equipment.
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure

work is completed according to specifications.

  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves.
  • Provides input to CIO on annual budget and operates within that budget with regard to the expenses for

production supplies, operating supplies, electricity, gas, water and sewer.

  • Maintain up to date records for all applicable facility and equipment inspections.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration.
