About SedMed

SedMed is a venture-backed, Connecticut-based medical equipment company uniquely addressing the $42 billion assistive technology market opportunity. Our product improves the safety and independence of those who struggle with activities of daily living and reduces injuries to health care workers. We have designed and manufactured the ONLY hydraulic toilet seat lifter that mounts onto any toilet with 2 bolts and in 2 minutes. Our product provides up to 80% assistance in raising a user’s body weight on/off the toilet using no electricity. Why is this important?

  1. People 85 and older suffer more than 50 percent of injuries near the toilet
  2. The average healthcare workers’ compensation claim is ~$42,000; 24 percent of those claims are due to overexertion

SedMed has shipped over 150 products, is partnering with 25 healthcare facilities and has signed contracts with 4 distributors at present and actively negotiating with others. We have secured funding to support a three-phased commercial plan nationally.

Position Overview

EQUITY opportunity!! Beyond base salary, this role will be eligible for a 20% commission on all direct sales and a significant equity stake immediately, with equity bonuses at attainable revenue goals.

This role will be responsible for growing SedMed adoption and utilization within hospitals and eldercare institutions direct and through distributors. This role will be responsible for coordinating all the sales functions to facilitate growth and expansion. Requiring a hands-on resource, this role leverages sales excellence, leadership skills, obstacle negotiations, and process development.

Responsibilities

  • Exceed top line revenue goals and other key performance indicators that align with corporate objectives.
  • Expert at presenting features, benefits, value analysis, and history of the organization during in-person sales consultations, hospital visits, workshops, tradeshows and to identified stakeholders.
  • Responsible for selecting and accelerating new sales opportunities while profiling the “best fit” individuals to champion the adoption and utilization processes, and those responsible for contracting and vendor approval.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Responsible for identification of activities to develop and drive sales process.
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency, and mentorship, in gaining clinical support, education on the product, and approval processes through professional sales skills, economic evaluation/analysis, and objection handling to close business.
  • Leverage sales tools and best practices to present to stakeholders while increasing sales productivity and successfully close sales opportunities.
  • Utilize the CRM for account planning, leads, and opportunities, while nurturing pipeline and providing reliable business intelligence to SedMed stakeholders.
  • Submit all necessary paperwork, including travel itineraries, trip reports, activity reports, monthly reports expense, and service reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Establish communication schedule to exchange information on daily/weekly activities.
  • Embodies the Company’s purpose and shared values, building a positive and productive team culture.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medical device industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience selling into hospitals and eldercare institutions
  • Ability to create and manage key internal and external partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in issue resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter, highly organized; works well with all functional levels in the organization.
  • High level of business management and facilitation skills.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex and lengthy sales cycles.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, business partners and customers.
  • Strong market analysis, strategic planning, leadership, and teambuilding skills.
  • Action-oriented; proven ability to build a team; self-development; problem solving.
  • Customer/patient focused; ability to constructively engage, collaborate, demonstrate consistency, act compliantly, show creativity, and add value.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Able to travel for work as needed.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Works in a variety of environments (office, home, hotel, events, hospital, operating room).
  • Frequent travel using a variety of transportation methods for work, meetings, events, trainings, etc. (> 50% travel)
  • Occasional to frequent overnight travel.
  • Combination of a stationary role with frequent movement from place to place.
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and other office/sales equipment.
  • Frequently picks up, carries, and moves items up to 50 lbs.
