The Child Find Specialist provides programmatic supervision and support to all Child Find initiatives throughout the schools that Vertex Education supports, including 45 day screenings, full and individual special education evaluations, Section 504 evaluations, and

pre-referral intervention initiatives, including MTSS. Serves as a research & development Specialist in the field of school psychology to support the growth and development of the Vertex Education network of schools.

  • Provides professional expertise in the field of School Psychology, specifically related to Child Find initiatives.
  • Assists with the content of onboarding for new school psychologists.
  • Consults with school administrators, department leads, and school psychologists regarding parent requests for evaluation, evaluations under IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE), and Child Find screenings to build capacity within the school-based team so that they may meet state and federal requirements.
  • Provides technical assistance to campus leadership and staff related to pre-referral intervention programs, including MTSS.
  • Creates and implements professional learning opportunities for Vertex and members of school staff.
  • Assists campus supervisors with content area expertise for school psychologists’ performance evaluations.
  • Tracks compliance indicators for evaluations, including Indicator 11 data, parent request timelines, and triennial re-evaluations.
  • Conducts campus visits and audits programming and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Facilitates technical assistance opportunities and department meetings on an ongoing basis.
  • Visits campuses on a periodic basis to conference with staff, review evaluations, and lend professional expertise to staff and administration.
  • Attends Level 2 and Level 3 meetings to impart professional expertise.
  • Facilitates the completion of external evaluations, including bilingual evaluations with outside agencies, independent educational evaluations, and initial evaluations for voucher applications.
  • Consults with leadership of the ESS department at Vertex regarding department needs, including programming, staffing, equipment, and materials.
  • Researches local laws and practices in new and active states.
  • Assists leadership with the development of policies and programming for schools supported by Vertex in new and active states.
  • Screens school psychologist applicants for hiring and contracting consideration.
  • Performs other related duties as required by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :

Education, Licensure, or Certification

  • National Certification as a school psychologist preferred.
  • Meets all qualifications of School Psychologist position.
  • Eligibility for licensure in all states in which Legacy operates.

Work Experience or Related Experience

  • 3 years experience as a practicing school psychologist.
  • Leadership experience preferred.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
  • Local and in-state travel required.
