Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated Athletic Field Superintendent to join our team at Lawn Capital in Decatur, GA. This position is crucial for the upkeep of athletic fields, ensuring they are in optimal condition for use. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment for all. The Athletic Field Superintendent will perform a variety of tasks including supervising and being involved with mowing, spraying, fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, field renovation and construction, irrigation and drainage, daily record keeping at each of our three athletic facilities. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to ensuring that all areas are well-kept and safe for users. The successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail. We currently have three athletic facilities in different stages of construction, renovation, and daily maintenance requirements.

Duties

• Perform primary and cultural turf practices.
• Assist with drainage maintenance, irrigation troubleshooting, and general landscape repairs as needed.
• Follow daily work schedules, respond to emails, and collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Maintain a proactive approach to athletic field maintenance, identifying and addressing potential issues before they become problems.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to optimize field conditions.
• Work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: High School/GED

Associate/Bachelor's in Sports Turf Management, Golf Course Management, Horticulture or related fields ( preferred but not required) 

Experience Requirements: 1-3 years of experience in athletic field maintenance, golf course maintenance, or a related role.

• Ability to operate golf course/athletic field equipment safely and efficiently.
• Reel mower operator experience needed
• Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail
• Pesticide applicator’s license or ability to acquire within 90 days 
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
