Position Description
The Campus Public Safety Officer is a vital member of our campus Public Safety team and serves as the first responder for the university under the direction of the Public Safety Supervisor or their designee. This dynamic, active role requires vigilance, quick decision-making, and engagement with the campus community. The Public Safety Officer is a uniformed, non-commissioned officer position that actively patrols campus grounds, provides essential medical and security aid, coordinates emergency services, documents critical incidents, and ensures the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role is deeply focused on community service and mental health support, as well as providing assistance to the greater campus community.
The Campus Public Safety Officer maintains a shift schedule that includes coverage during campus closures and holidays. Officers work collaboratively in teams of 5-6 personnel, including a supervisor and dispatcher. Our department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers are assigned to one of our teams. Teams rotate between day and night shifts every six months to ensure balanced coverage.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $48,500 - $49,800
